Aluminum wishbones / A5-Platform: Golf 5/6, A3/S3 8P, Leon 2, Octavia 2

MacPherson strut front suspension on VWG 'A5' platform vehicles (such as Golf 5, 6, Scirocco, A3, S3, Leon, Octavia) is a common design. Although a popular choice for manufacturers due to its simplicity and low manufacturing cost, the standard design has several drawbacks when it comes to high-performance applications.

Firstly, there is almost no possibility to adjust the static camber, caster or the geometry of the center of rotation, which as we know from our racing program, is absolutely critical for the handling of cars on the VWG A5 platform.

The other downside in high-performance use is that this design tends to transmit road noise and vibration directly into the cabin, which forces manufacturers to add additional noise reduction and isolation mechanisms. In other words, there is a lot of movement in the original factory soft rubber bushing controlling the lower control arm.
