RacingLine DSG Oil Cooler Kit – DQ250 / DQ381 MQB & MQB Evo
The RacingLine DSG Oil Cooler Kit is a complete kit for additional oil cooling in the DSG gearbox, developed for 2.0 TSI MQB and MQB Evo vehicles with DQ250 6-speed DSG or DQ381 7-speed DSG.
When you increase power and torque, not only does the engine start working under higher load. The DSG gearbox also has to transfer more force to the wheels, which generates significantly more heat in the transmission oil.
During aggressive driving, track use, high ambient temperatures, or with a tuned car, the factory water-to-oil cooler of the DSG gearbox can quickly reach its limits. When the oil cannot dissipate heat quickly enough, it begins to thin out and lose some of its lubricating properties.
Under such conditions, DSG management can start to protect the gearbox – by reducing torque, slowing down gear changes, and in extreme cases, even limiting or losing gear selection. The RacingLine DSG Oil Cooler Kit is designed precisely to prevent this problem.
The kit adds an additional front-mounted air-to-oil cooler, installed directly in the cold air stream. This way, the DSG oil temperature can be reduced by about 15–20°C, depending on driving style, ambient temperature, and tuning level.
RacingLine retains the factory water-to-oil cooler and adds a second air-to-oil cooler. This means dual cooling – the DSG oil continues to reach operating temperature quickly through the factory system, but when it starts to overheat, the thermostatic RacingLine block opens the path to the additional front cooler.
The thermostatic adapter directs oil to the front cooler only when the temperature reaches approximately 82°C. This way, the system does not overcool the oil during normal driving, but provides serious cooling capacity precisely when the load increases.
The heart of the system is a 10-row plate air-to-oil cooler, which passes hot transmission oil through a series of aluminum plates. When cold air flows through the dense cooling fins, heat is efficiently dissipated, and the DSG gearbox operates at a more stable temperature.
The kit uses AN10 210 Series oil lines with an outer nylon braid and internal stainless steel reinforcement for high resistance. Additional protective sheathing protects the lines from chafing in real-world use.
This is the right upgrade for cars with Stage 1, Stage 2, or Stage 3 configuration, track driving, high load, or simply for owners who want their DSG gearbox to operate more stably and protected during serious driving.

Why this upgrade matters?
The DSG gearbox is extremely fast and efficient, but with high power and aggressive driving, the oil inside is severely stressed. When the temperature rises too much, the transmission starts to protect itself, which can lead to slower shifts, reduced power, and loss of consistency.
The RacingLine DSG Oil Cooler Kit adds cooling capacity exactly where it's needed – at the front of the car, in a direct flow of cold air. This allows the DSG gearbox to operate more stably during repeated accelerations, track use, mountain driving, or high summer temperatures.
Dual Cooling
The RacingLine system does not remove the factory water-to-oil cooler. Instead, it retains it and adds an additional air-to-oil cooler.
- The factory water-to-oil cooler helps the DSG oil reach operating temperature faster.
- When the oil starts to overheat, the thermostatic block opens the flow to the front air-to-oil cooler.
- After cooling, the transmission oil returns at a lower temperature, and less heat is transferred to the engine's cooling system.

Installation
- The kit for MQB vehicles comes with two sets of mounting brackets – one for Audi S3 8V and one for Golf 7 / other MQB models.
- Bracket installation requires drilling holes through the front crash bar.
- The front cooler is positioned behind the left lower bumper opening for optimal airflow.
- Professional installation and proper bleeding/servicing of the DSG system according to the procedure for the specific gearbox are recommended.
Important
- Choose the correct version based on gearbox and platform: DQ250 MQB, DQ381 MQB or DQ381 MQB Evo.
- VWR29G7250 is only for DQ250 6-speed DSG gearboxes.
- VWR29DQ381 is for DQ381 7-speed DSG gearboxes in MQB.
- VWR29DQ381EVO is for DQ381 7-speed DSG gearboxes in MQB Evo.
- RacingLine states that the DQ250 version is not suitable for US-spec DQ250 vehicles with a Secondary Air Injection system.
- Compatibility check by model, year, platform, and gearbox code is recommended before ordering.
- This is not a substitute for regular DSG oil and filter service.
