RacingLine Oil Cooler Kit – 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 / Gen.4 MQB & MQB Evo

The RacingLine Oil Cooler Kit VWR18G700 is a complete supplemental engine oil cooling kit, developed specifically for 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 and Gen.4 engines in VW, Audi, Cupra / SEAT, and Skoda MQB / MQB Evo vehicles.

The higher the power output and the more aggressively the car is driven, the more important it becomes to control engine oil temperature. Under aggressive driving, track use, high ambient temperatures, or software tuning, the factory oil cooler can quickly reach its limits.

When oil cannot dissipate accumulated heat quickly enough, it begins to thin and lose some of its lubricating properties. This means weaker engine protection precisely when the load is highest.

RacingLine solves this problem by adding an additional air-to-oil cooler, positioned at the front of the car, directly in the cold air stream. This allows the oil temperature to be reduced by approximately 15–20°C, depending on driving style, ambient temperature, and tuning level.

The kit retains the factory water-to-oil cooler and adds a front-mounted oil cooler. This significantly increases cooling capacity, and some of the excess heat is dissipated outside the water cooling system.

At the heart of the system is a 10-row stacked-plate oil cooler, which passes hot oil through a series of aluminum plates. When cold air flows through the dense cooling fins, heat is dissipated much more efficiently.

RacingLine also uses a special sandwich plate under the oil filter with integrated pressure control. It directs oil flow to the cooler at the correct flow rate and volume while protecting the system from sudden pressure spikes.

The kit is developed as a complete plug-and-play solution. There is no need to remove the intake manifold to find individual oil feed and return points. The system uses an adapter under the factory oil filter housing, making installation cleaner, more reliable, and more predictable.

Why This Upgrade Matters

Oil temperature is critical for engine health. Under high load, the oil absorbs an enormous amount of heat from the engine, turbocharger, and internal components. If this heat is not dissipated effectively enough, the oil begins to lose viscosity and protective properties.

High-Flow Oil Filter

The kit includes a special high-flow oil filter made of stainless micron filter mesh. This material allows for significantly higher flow rates compared to a standard paper filter, while providing consistent filtration across the entire surface.

Installation

  • The kit includes two mounting solutions: one for Audi S3 8V and one for other MQB / MQB Evo vehicles.
  • Mounting the brackets requires drilling holes through the front crash bar.
  • No need to remove the intake manifold to access oil passages.
  • The sandwich plate mounts under the existing oil filter housing.

Filter Servicing

  • RacingLine recommends the stainless filter element be inspected and cleaned every 5,000 miles or along with the vehicle's normal service interval.
  • If there is no complete certainty in proper cleaning, the best practice is to replace the filter with a new one during servicing.
  • The filter element is available separately as a consumable.

Important

  • Designed for 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 and Gen.4 MQB / MQB Evo vehicles.
  • For vehicles from 2015 or older, VWG component 06L115678Q – a plastic insert for the oil standpipe – may be required.
  • RacingLine does not recommend immediate installation of this kit on a newly built or freshly revised engine.
  • For a freshly built engine, it is advisable to first perform a break-in period of at least 1,600 km, followed by a full flush and oil change with approved VWG oil.
  • After installation on such an engine, the filter should be checked and cleaned after another 1,600 km.
  • Professional installation and verification of compatibility by model, year, and engine are recommended before ordering.
