The RacingLine Magnetic Haldex Plug Kit VWR180002 is a set of magnetic plugs for servicing the Haldex system in VW, Audi, Cupra / SEAT, and Skoda all-wheel drive vehicles.

The Haldex system is an intelligent clutch that engages the rear axle when the front wheels start to lose traction. To function properly, it uses a special Haldex oil that facilitates friction between the plates of the multi-plate clutch.

Over time, normal wear and tear between these plates creates fine particles and sludge in the oil. This sludge can accumulate around the Haldex pump's oil strainer and gradually restrict oil flow. When this happens, the Haldex system begins to perform less effectively, and in more severe cases, the vehicle can effectively become front-wheel drive only.

The RacingLine Magnetic Haldex Plug Kit helps reduce this risk, as the magnetic drain plug attracts and holds fine iron particles in the oil, preventing them from continuing to circulate through the Haldex system.

The kit is a small but very meaningful preventive upgrade for any Haldex service. Installation is direct – when changing the Haldex oil, the factory plugs are replaced with the RacingLine kit, and the system receives an additional level of protection.

Why does this upgrade matter?

Unlike regular differential oil, Haldex oil operates in a multi-plate clutch system. During normal operation, fine friction particles are generated between the plates, gradually contaminating the oil.

If these particles accumulate around the Haldex pump's strainer, oil flow can be reduced. This can lead to weaker performance of the all-wheel drive system and a feeling that the vehicle is no longer transmitting enough power to the rear axle.
